by Markus Eck (07/03) The Dahlie is an ornamental plant named after the Swedish botanist Dahl. This US outfit pays quite a tribute to the homecountry of this man - but less on a botanical level but rather in terms of At the Gates Melodic Death Metal as swift as an arrow. The five plant killers originate from Detroit, Michigan and their band name derives from an unsolved murder case. The musical discharge of this pitchblack quintet is just as exciting as a murder mistory noir. Furthermore, they express their influences by brute legends such as Dissection and Carcass an "Unhallowed". The energy which is released on this Deathrig could spare the world another nuclear power plant. Such vulgar and raw expression of musical devotion can hardly be found nowadays. The furious guitarwork as well as the powerful drum inferno convey the most extreme intensity to the listener of this fervent debut.
