by Matthias Mineur (null) That's what every band dreams of: to re-record the debut, initially recorded with all weaknesses and lack of skills and all ignorance. Edguy, one of the most promising newcomers in German Melodic Metal have let this dream come true and present their first, self-produced album, THE SAVAGE POETRY, as a re-worked issue. Further bonbon is that it includes the album in two versions: as a re-release of the original and as reworked, newly recorded version of the same songs. What am I supposed to say? Sound-wise, THE SAVAGE POETRY has gained a lot, of course. No wonder, for Mikko Karmila (e.g. Stratovarius) has done the mix in the 'Finnvox' studios in Helsinki. Musically, the harmless songwriting is not maturing into killers, but fans and everybody interested can see this album as a welcomed interim to the next album. Especially because they promised to give this double c.d. for the price of a single one.
