"The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from Mars" LP by David Bowie
Article description
The concept album was released in 1972 and tells the story of a promiscuous and drug-addicted rock star whose life has been marked by his experiences. Bowie tells the story between hard rock and glam rock, pop and art rock through a total of eleven songs, including the single 'Starman' and the title track 'Ziggy Stardust'.
The musician recorded the album with his producer Ken Scott at Trident Studios in London. Scott had already produced 'Honky Dory' (1971) for Bowie. Bowie received musical support on 'Ziggy Stardust' from Mick Ronson (guitar, piano, background vocals, string arrangements), Trevor Bolder (bass), Mick Woodmansey (drums), Rick Wakeman (keyboard), and Dana Gillespie (vocals on the song 'It Ain't Easy').
In the UK, the album reached number five on the album charts.
Exactly 40 years later, in 2012, Ray Staff completely remastered all the songs from 'Ziggy Stardust' at London's Air Studios. The sound engineer is known for his work with Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Clash, Black Sabbath, and Muse, among others.
Just a little over two months after David Bowie's death, the 2012 remastered version of 'Ziggy Stardust' is released on Vinyl once again - the legendary album of the rock icon in the best sound quality.
