by Oliver Kube (22.10.2008) On their debut "Beautiful tragedy" which was a worldwide success, she used plenty of screams and growls, but on this album, female fronter Maria Brink just uses her natural, "clean" singing voice. And she seems to have worked on it a lot, so why not take this direction. Listening to "The dream", it becomes obvious that the whole band has developed and matured - especially regarding songwriting. You won’t find extreme roughness or brutality on this album, but nevertheless you’ll get a lot of variety. The second album of the Californians is dominated by epic alternative sounds (check out "Forever" or pumping "You always believed"). Due to (among others) "All for you", spiced with some clever electro crumbs, and low-key piano ballad "Into the light", and the title track, obviously influenced by the New Romantics movement, "The dream" is much more diversified than its predecessor, including mass appeal. Alright, In This Moment seem to be on their way to the top.
