by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (24.07.2009) Any similarities to that Asphyx album "The krusher" are really accidental. Nine years ago, these blokes from the Stockholm area found their own style which sets them apart from the average Swedish Death without neglecting its special and melodic quality. "The Avenger" was a good album, but on their third one (the "make it or break it" one, according to an old music biz cliché), they're brimming with versatility and ideas. Unfortunately, many songs won't be heard live any more apart from the bonus CD (the complete album consists of a stage version performed in December 2008). Rhythmic anthems such as the opening track "Bastards of a lying breed", and "A fury divine" are completed by massive steamrollers like "Masters of war", the re-animated demo track "Risen from the sea" (2000), and the cover version of Possessed’s "Eyes of horror" (cult!). "Annihilation of hammerfest" is more melodic and a bit slower.
