"Songs of the dusk" CD by Insomnium
Article description
Music is essentially a weapon to destroy the walls we have built around ourselves - and Finnish metal melancholists INSOMNIUM are among the strongest of these weapons. Their ninth masterpiece 'Anno 1696,' released in early 2023, takes us deep into the dark and restless past of Northern Europe, a time of witches, superstition, bloodlust, and madness. And werewolves. Now, INSOMNIUM continues the epic story of 'Anno 1696' with their addendum-like EP 'Songs of the Dusk,' which includes 22 minutes of music and three more journeys into a dark and foggy past. 'We simply had eleven great songs, and we thought that this material was too good to be 'only' bonus tracks,' explains Niilo SevΓ€nen (bass, vocals). 'They are part of the big story, so you can see them as director's cut material that tells a little more. For those who want more.'
Mixed by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Orgone Studios) and mastered by Tony Lindgren (Fascination Street Studios), 'Anno 1696' and its accompanying 'Songs of the Dusk' are their most accomplished, emotionally stirring, and soaring achievements by far.
Originally, 'Songs of the Dusk' was part of the Limited Deluxe 2CD Artbook of 'Anno 1696,' but it is now available separately as: Limited CD Digipak, as well as Vinyl editions with etched motifs on side B.
