by Oliver Kube (20.04.2009) "Change or die", peppered with fast, cool breaks, is the adequately aggressive opening song of Papa Roach's fifth major label release. The Cali-boys present us also with "Had enough" (food for thought), the single "Hollywood whore" (the lyrics are a bit too cliché on this one), "March out of the darkness" (a melodious sing-along anthem), or "I almost told you" (a pulsating Rock thing). All that makes for a lot of variety and is professionally done, the songs all being powerful and catchy. Front man Jacoby Shaddix & Co. are not very active in the innovative department, though - now finally having put aside all remainders of Nu Metal. Even a guest appearance of Mötley Crüe axe man Mick Mars on hefty "Into the light" doesn't change that. But - if you don't expect a sound or style revolution on "Metamorphosis", and just want to have a solid, modern Alternative Rock album, you'll be entertained perfectly.
