by Marcel Anders (null) Powerful, bombastic and melodic - A Perfect Circle is the harmonic equivalence for Tool. On the one hand strongly rooted in 70s-Progressive Rock in King Crimson-vein, but at the same time full of 80s references - Gothic, Post-Punk and Glam. A weird but great mixture living by metallic riffs and driving drums. Some sequencer and loops bring in the 90s-background and result in a rolling and powerful whole, skilfully set to scene by Alan Moulder (Pumpkins, NIN). Remarkable: Like Korn, also the A Perfect Circle songs are catchy enough to get their hooks into your brain, like the single, 'Judith', the fantastic 'Orestes' or the acoustic '3 Libra's'. I wouldn't know how modern Rock music could be more perfect.
