    Schluss Mit Rock 'n' Roll

by Jürgen Tschamler (04/99) The Beatsteaks from Berlin are the first German band to sign on the American punk label Epipath. Their album "Launched" which will help the band conquer America, contains 14 classic punk rock songs with a good deal of rock n'roll elements (still punk is the main ingredient). Quick punk songs with catchy melodies and vocals, just typical for the Epipath label. In principle it's chart punk rock like The Offspring, Greenday or Bad Peligion already presented us. I favour those tracks on which the guys speed up a little as on "Excited", "Go", "Happy now?"and "2 o'clock". The parody "Kings of metal" is hilarious and deals with (could it be any different?) Manowar (among others). The Beatsteaks really do fit the label rooster and they will as well find fans in the USA! (JΓΌrgen Tschamler)
