Article description
With 245,000 albums sold and a loyal streaming community, they prove that they can rock not only Wacken! Two years have passed since their last album, 'Vikings Memories,' and now the SKÁLD collective is returning with a new sound, simultaneously announcing their new album, Huldufólk.
SKÁLD's sound is inspired by Norse mythology and captivates audiences worldwide! SKÁLD has already conquered extraordinary stages live - they have been seen at Wacken and also performed at Hellfest in France. The sound of SKÁLD is driven by the breathtaking contrast of vocal voices: the warm, haunting voice of Justine Galmiche meets the throaty and powerful vocal tone of Perrick Valence. Their producer and composer, Christophe Voisin-Boisvinet, as hinted, relies on an unusually wide range of sounds and musical instruments. Numerous percussion instruments can be heard alongside stringed instruments like the nyckelhapra or skálkdharpa (the latter is not a traditional instrument but a custom-made one for the band). In the epic orchestral arrangements, SKÁLD combines Celtic influences with elements of world music.
