Wow, the title of the new Discipline-cd immediately sets me back into he early 80s and bands like The Business, Sham 69 or Cock Sparrer. Without the British Oi!-movement there would never have been a European Street Punk-explosion in the way we experience it today but the times of Jimmy Pursey or Micky Fitz have definitely passed, today others reign, and a band like Discipline is surely no less important than the mentioned bands were back then. On the contrary: the new album, "Downfall of the working man" (the title song is indeed very hit compatible) stands definitely on one level with classics, such as "Suburban rebels" or "Shock troops". The trend of the last Discipline-releases is set forth consequently: the band further moves away from the tough-guy-hardcore into the classic Oi! Punk regions. The tremendous experience and routine have further helped that the Belgians made a huge leap forward in terms of song writing. Smashers, like the football-hymn, "Red & white army" have even something of a pop-sensibility (in positive sense...). (Matthias Mader - April 2005)
