Article description

Following the suggestion of their long-time friend Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains met with producer Nick Raskulinecz in late summer 2008 to discuss the possibility of collaborating on a new album. In early autumn, the band and producer set up in Grohl's Studio 606 in Northridge, California and began their intensive work on Alice In Chains' first studio album in over ten years. Production then continued at the famous Henson Studios in Hollywood, and by spring 2009, the band had put together eleven electrifying songs about faith and resilience. The album title 'Black Gives Way To Blue' is taken from the heartfelt tribute song of the same name for Layne Staley, their (spiritual) brother and former singer who passed away in 2002.
