by Oliver Kube (10.07.2009) Are these some older Billy Talent songs the boys didn't get around to release so far? No - it's just that the third studio album by the Canadian Alternative and Punk Rock superstars picks up the style of its chart-breaking predecessor "II": pulsating, hectic Rock tracks - just check out "Devil on my shoulder" or peppy "Diamond on a landmine" - which drill their way into your mind's hard drive (and won't leave), and emotional half-ballads Γ la "Rusted from the rain". It's fun, the production is classy, with a compelling sing-along-factor - but yet, we're talking about a well-worn path... This time, it might be still ok for the sympathetic quartet to copy their own stuff, but on the next output singer Benjamin Kowalewicz, riff-man Ian DβSa and the rest of the gang really should deliver something fresher.
