Article description
When you start the first prologue track by BATS, you can expect that we will embark on quite a journey - with GAMA BOMB as our fearless tour guides. From the tombs of Egypt to the faded glamour of old Hollywood, Philly, Domo, John, Joe, and James lead us through new sonic landscapes and all kinds of novel adventures on what they themselves describe as their 'craziest' Album yet. Sonically, GAMA BOMB stay true to their unmistakable thrash sound that they have perfected in two decades at the forefront of headbanging and fist-pumping. There are nods to heavy metal titans like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, there's even a touch of Bad Brains-esque punk attitude, and more familiar influences like Tankard and Sodom are still evident. But anyone who believes that GAMA BOMB is serving up something ordinary hasn't considered a thunderous saxophone solo (courtesy of Irish saxophonist Gavin Kerins) or the appearance of hip-hop pioneer The Egyptian Lover, who - of course - raps in Egyptron. BATS is an Album that could only come from GAMA BOMB; on this, their eighth studio Album, they have embraced their inner absurdities, confidently embraced each other, and relied on the quirky glue that has kept them together for the past 21 years to propel them forward.
